I’m not the best at writing intros, as you’ve probably seen. So let’s pause here for a few seconds, and you can insert your clever intro of choice here: ________. We good? Awesome. Let’s get down to business

This is a 1.24% decrease from the last time I calculated my net worth, which was $133,008.01 at the end of November 2014.
My thoughts:
Not bad. Considering how much the markets have dropped, especially the energy sector, this isn’t bad at all. And considering my little … mishap this past month, I am downright pleased. Not really much to say about this month. The decline was small and affected every category by roughly the same amount. I am still debt-free, due to paying off that credit card balance, but of course it means that my cash balance is a little lower. No big deal.
Looking forward, you will see a large spike in my cash balance over the next few months. Come April, that will disappear. The reason? That lovely tax bill I have coming. Yeah, like I mentioned before, I marked down the wrong deductions on one of the forms I filled out while being hired. That means my take-home pay was much higher than it should have been for the entire year, and now I have a tax bill of $10,000-15,000 waiting for me in April. So guess what I get to save for? We will also see that my take-home pay will be lower, due to me now having the right deductions in place. That implies that my savings rate will decrease due to not having as much money to invest. On the positive side, no more big-ass tax bills!
Has your net worth been affected by the market’s erratic behavior?

Nice intro 😉
A small drop isnt bad considering how much energy is taking a beating, I suppose. Yikes…thats a huge tax bill. But no way around it. Good luck

Yeah, that’s a benefit of diversification. IDK about the tax bill. On one hand, I am annoyed that I a) messed up on my deductions, and b) owe so much. However, paying a lot means I make even more, which means I’m in a very fortunate spot. Pros and cons to it.
Great work man. That’s an amazing net worth number to me. Especially because you’re 8 years younger than me and even I am still young!
Keep up the good work!
My portfolio value is rising, but the reason is actually quite bad.
I’m depositing in Euro and then I buy stocks in dollars. A couple of months ago the dollar was of less value compared to the Euro. The Euro is now plumming so my Euro value for the same (or even less..) dollars is rising, but that’s not a good thing.. I’m sure it will settle itself in the long run tho
Best wishes,

Thanks! Oooo, that’s an interesting position to be in. It will work itself out in time, to your benefit
Thanks for sharing your recent net worth update with us. Monthly ups and downs are very normal especially when a lot of your net worth is tied to your stock market portfolio. With all the volatility we have seen the past several months no doubt you’ll be seeing more wild swings. In all, great job growing your dividend snowball. Look forward to more updates.

I know it. Actually makes things a bit more interesting and engaging watching my net worth go up and down, rather than just seeing it go straight up. Thanks for stopping by!
You’ve got a great start there! Over $130,000 net worth at age 23 is incredible. Thanks for the add to your blogroll. I’ll be doing the same. Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing your progress in 2015!
